GIU Honors Mohamed Niroz Mohamed with Honorary Doctorate in Information Systems

Graham International University is proud to announce the conferment of an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Hon. Ph.D.) in Information Systems upon Mohamed Niroz Mohamed Thawoos of Sri Lanka, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the fields of information technology, cybersecurity leadership, and digital transformation across education and corporate sectors.

With over two decades of experience in IT and cybersecurity, Dr. (Hon.) Thawoos currently serves as Director and Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Almerbati International Co., where he leads the organization’s IT strategy and cybersecurity governance. His illustrious career includes leadership roles such as IT Administration Manager at Keypoint and Chief Information Security Officer at Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School, where he spearheaded impactful initiatives including enterprise cloud migrations, e-waste reduction, and data privacy readiness aligned with Bahrain’s PDPL.

Dr. (Hon.) Thawoos holds an MBA in International Management from Swiss Business School and a BSc (Hons) in Networking Technology and Cybersecurity from Lincoln University, Malaysia. He is further pursuing a Doctorate in Computer Science at the European Institute of Management and Technology (EIMT), Switzerland, with research focused on enhancing cybersecurity awareness among household users through ISP-driven strategies.

An advocate for bridging the gap between human behavior and cybersecurity resilience, Dr. (Hon.) Thawoos has authored multiple thought leadership articles on digital safety, artificial intelligence in education, and smart city innovations. He is also a globally certified professional, holding credentials such as CISM, CCIE, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, CCSP, and more. His leadership excellence has earned him multiple accolades, including the World CIO 200 Award for three consecutive years and recognition as a GCF Certified Security Leader in 2020.
