Doctor of African American Studies (A.A.S.D) in African American Foods
Our Doctor of African American Studies (A.A.S.D) in African American Foods offers an academic and cultural exploration into the culinary traditions of African Americans. This program investigates the historical, nutritional, and sociocultural significance of foodways from Africa, the Caribbean, and African American communities. Students examine the intersections of food with identity, memory, resistance, and celebration. Designed for researchers, cultural historians, and community advocates, the program supports original scholarship on topics such as soul food, holiday traditions, and diasporic culinary innovation. Graduates will be prepared to lead in cultural preservation, food justice, public policy, and educational institutions.
