GIU Appoints Dr. Demetra L. Williams as Affiliated Professor & Ed.D. Student Advisor

Graham International University (GIU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Demetra L. Williams, Ed.D., as Affiliated Professor & Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) Student Advisor. Dr. Williams brings extensive experience in higher education leadership, student affairs administration, and strategic program development, strengthening GIU’s commitment to academic excellence and student success.

Dr. Williams earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Higher Education Administration with a specialization in Student Affairs from Liberty University in 2024. Her doctoral research focused on improving reading achievement and academic performance through targeted educational interventions and strategic support systems.

With more than a decade of professional experience in education, workforce development, and student services, Dr. Williams has served in numerous leadership roles across academic and training institutions. She currently works at Montgomery College in Maryland, where she has held several leadership positions including Interim Director of Student Life, Title IX Advisor, and Chair of the President’s Advisory Committee on Equity and Inclusion. In these roles, she has led initiatives that expanded student engagement programs, strengthened leadership development opportunities, and enhanced institutional support systems for diverse student populations.

Throughout her career, Dr. Williams has demonstrated a strong commitment to student empowerment, diversity, and equitable access to education. Her leadership has helped increase participation in leadership programs, improve student retention strategies, and strengthen partnerships between academic institutions and community organizations.

At GIU, Dr. Williams will contribute to teaching, mentorship, and doctoral student advising, particularly supporting students enrolled in our Ed.D. programs. Her role will include guiding doctoral candidates in research development, academic writing, and professional leadership within the field of education.
