GIU Launches Degree via Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) Program

Graham International University (GIU) is excited to announce the launch of its Degree via Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) program, empowering individuals to earn academic degrees based on their professional experience and prior learning.

This new initiative aligns with global higher education trends that recognize the value of real-world knowledge and skills. GIU now offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees through the VAE program, allowing candidates to gain academic recognition without additional coursework.

The VAE approach has long been accepted internationally. In France, the Loi de Modernisation Sociale (Law of Social Modernization) of 2002 made it possible for individuals to earn degrees based entirely on an assessment of their past education and work experience. Similarly, U.S. institutions have historically granted academic credits to military veterans, acknowledging the educational value of life experiences. The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), established in 1974, further formalized the process of converting prior learning into academic credits.

By implementing the VAE model, GIU continues its commitment to making higher education accessible to professionals, lifelong learners, and innovators who have gained expertise outside traditional academic settings.

How the GIU VAE Program Works

The GIU VAE program follows a structured yet flexible process:

  1. Application Submission – Candidates compile a portfolio showcasing their achievements, skills, and competencies related to their desired degree.
  2. Evaluation – The GIU VAE Award Committee reviews the portfolio to determine if it meets the degree requirements. If needed, additional clarification or coursework may be recommended.
  3. Outcome Notification – Applicants receive a formal decision. Those who fully meet the criteria are awarded their degree. If any gaps exist, the committee suggests further steps.
  4. Fee Payment – Upon approval, candidates complete a one-time payment via Stripe or PayPal.
  5. Degree Award – Once the payment is confirmed, the candidate officially receives their degree, enjoying the same prestige and privileges as traditional GIU graduates.
Who Can Apply?

The VAE program is designed for:

  • Professionals & Experts – Individuals with significant work experience and achievements.
  • Lifelong Learners – Those who have gained substantial knowledge through self-directed learning.
  • Innovators & Community Leaders – People who have demonstrated exceptional skills in problem-solving, social impact, or creative industries.

To be eligible, candidates must have at least three years of relevant full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience in their chosen field.
