With over two decades of experience in chemical marketing, international business relations, and industrial solutions, Dr. Udapitiya has made significant contributions to both the Sri Lankan and global chemical industries.
A Career of Excellence in Chemical Marketing
Dr. Udapitiya has built an exceptional career as a Managing Director of Colour Coating (Pvt) Ltd in Sri Lanka, a leading supplier of industrial chemicals. His expertise extends to managing overseas supply chains and handling chemicals from some of the world’s most renowned manufacturers, including Clariant AG, Wacker AG, SE Tylose AG, Merck AG, and SASOL WAX. His leadership has ensured long-term relationships with international suppliers from Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, India, China, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Udapitiya served as the Country Divisional Manager at Multiform Chemicals (Clariant Division) from 2000 to 2004, where he played a key role in technical sales, new product development, and market expansion. His early career at Hoechst Ceylon Ltd (1990–2000) further solidified his expertise in chemical distribution and industrial applications.
Global Exposure & Industry Impact
Dr. Udapitiya has actively participated in international technical training and exhibitions, including the European Coatings Show (Germany), Southeast Asia Pacific Coatings Show (Singapore), and In-Cosmetics (Indonesia). These experiences have enhanced his technical knowledge and enabled him to introduce innovative products and marketing strategies to Sri Lanka’s industrial chemical sector.
His company, Colour Coatings Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, has successfully represented global chemical giants such as Clariant GmbH, Shin-Etsu (Japan), Wacker GmbH, Merck GmbH, Prisma (UK), Heubach (Switzerland), Sudarshan Chemicals (India), and SASOL WAX (South Africa). This global representation underscores his significant contributions to the coatings, paints, printing inks, detergents, rubber, latex, and plastics industries.
Academic and Professional Distinctions
Dr. Udapitiya’s academic achievements include a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Selinus University of Science & Literature (Europe) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Northampton (UK). Additionally, he holds multiple postgraduate qualifications, including:
